Swerve Strickland Brainstorms How to Get More Women Involved in Wrestling – Wrestling Inc.

Swerve Strickland is looking to expand their wrestling fan base and create storylines that will appeal to fans outside of the male demographic. During his recent appearance on say less Podcast, the leader of Mogul Affiliates discussed his idea to get more viewers into the wacky and funny world of sports entertainment.

According to Strickland, wrestling can tap into all kinds of emotions, but most of the action revolves around grudges and title chases. He believes these thoughts are “superficial level” and other types of feelings and stories can be focused on as well. “What about betrayal? How about grief? How about… Then there’s a bunch of different levels to that — there’s comedy, there’s like all this stuff you can shoot.”

Additionally, Strickland believes that modern wrestling storylines should embrace more romance, which they used to do back in the day. Moreover, they don’t have to be cute feel-good love stories because romance can also lead to drama with a lot of twists and turns. “Women are really invested in romance — not just a strong female character who can knock anyone out,” he said. “Women are attracted to him and relate to, ‘Oh, she’s been with him, he’s with her, but he’s got a love triangle with her.'” His idea is to take the drama from shows like ‘White Lotus’ and apply it to wrestling storylines.

This isn’t the first time the AEW star has brought up this idea. newly, Strickland and Kenny Omega discussed their romance on AEW TVstating that there is a place for it—as long as the story is compelling.
