One dead, one shot after an armed robber from Idaho takes hostage in Montana
One person was killed and another injured Saturday in an armed robbery and hostage-taking in two western states.
A fleeing Idaho man ran to a Montana rest house and took a hostage when he was confronted by cops, Mineral County Wayne Cashman Montana said right now.
The unidentified man pushed his hostage to the ground and fired two shots at his victim.
The police immediately returned fire, killing the suspect.
Cops chased the man after Idaho police alerted them to two armed robbers on the run. the authorities said.
The suspects — a man and a woman — carried out the robbery with two others, according to police, but entered Big Sky Country alone..
A 911 caller reported seeing the couple dump their car around 11:30 a.m. near a sewer in St. Louis. Regis, a community on the outskirts of Lolo National Forest.
The duo checked into a local hotel, but then the caller split up. The woman stayed behind while the man headed to the rest stop on I90.
The police arrested the woman without incident.
Several agencies responded to the travel center, as the male suspect desperately tried to flee capture.
The hostages have been taken to a nearby hospital where they are being treated for multiple gunshot wounds.
Mineral County sheriffs are still investigating the shooting and were unable to provide additional details to The Post.
