Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests 220 criminal illegal immigrants with convictions of rape and murder
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) It announced Friday that it had arrested 220 illegal immigrants in a nine-day enforcement operation with criminal convictions that included rape and murder.
ICE said Enforcement and Removals (ERO) has arrested 220 “deportable non-citizens” with convictions that include domestic violence, sexual assault, burglary, weapon crimes, drug trafficking and driving under the influence. The arrests took place between March 4 and 13.
Among those arrested is a 64-year-old Mexican Last year he was convicted of sexually assaulting a victim under the age of 13, a 37-year-old Mexican with attempted murder, a 65-year-old Mexican with second-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon. A 49-year-old Mexican was also arrested with charges of battery and felony rape by force/fear.
Other illegal immigrants arrested include a 20-year-old Cuban convicted last year of second-degree murder, a 33-year-old Nicaraguan with an armed robbery conviction, and a 50-year-old Salvadoran convicted of sexual assault and sexual intercourse with a child. Under 11 years old, and a 44-year-old Mexican convicted of sexual offenses with a child under 11 years old.

ICE said the operation shows how the agency is focused “on smart and effective immigration enforcement that protects the homeland by apprehending and removing those who undermine the safety of our communities and the integrity of federal immigration law.”
“Our teams evaluate various factors during targeting and apprehension to ensure we are applying US immigration laws humanely, effectively, and with the utmost professionalism,” Corey Price, ERO’s associate executive director, said in a statement.
ICE’s ERO arrested 46,396 illegal immigrants with criminal histories last year. Those included 198,498 related charges and convictions, the agency said.
However, ICE’s footprint has been shrinking under the Biden administration. After failing to impose a ban on deportations, ICE narrowed its priorities to include recent border crossers, national security threats, and threats to public safety. These guidelines have now been blocked by a federal judge.

And the recent budget review by the Department of Homeland Security showed that ICE migrations or criminal illegal immigrants.
In fiscal 2020, the last full year of the Trump administration, the agency aimed to deport 151,000 convicted illegal immigrants, deporting just over 100,000. In fiscal 2021, the target was 97,440 and only 39,149 were removed. By 2022, the first full fiscal year of the Biden administration, the target has dropped to 91,500, and just over 38,000 have been carried forward.

The agency has now lowered targets for fiscal year 2023 and 2024 to just 29,393 migrations per year.
In an explanatory note, ICE said it is taking “all feasible measures to minimize factors that detract from deportation performance, including continued efforts to obtain increased levels of cooperation from foreign countries and to increase the frequency of transfers of detainees where possible.”
The agency suggested that hiring more deportation officers and lawyers to improve case management could help reduce “roadblocks and inefficiencies” ahead of policy changes being proposed by the Biden administration, as well as COVID-19 pandemicAnd was responsible for the lower numbers.
“However, it is important to note that significantly lower removal numbers are more the result of environmental factors and the political environment than operational performance,” she said.
Meanwhile, ICE’s sister DHS agency — Customs and Border Protection (CBP) — announced Friday that Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley sector have arrested four gang members and a sex offender among the immigrants they interviewed this week. One of the men is a 41-year-old Mexican who was previously convicted of sexual assault of a minor in Indiana, while agents in McAllen also arrested a Paisas, MS-13, and Wild Mexicans from El Salvador, along with a Mexican.
