Harrogate 1-0 Barrow: Matt Daly is back on the scoresheet for sulfurite

Harrogate Town won for the first time in eight home matches with Matty Daly scoring the only goal against Barrow.

The second half substitute scored his first goal since November and seventh of the season in the 74th minute and eased his team’s relegation fears in the process.

Earlier, during the first half, Harrogate midfielder Levi Sutton rattled the crossbar from the edge of the penalty area after Matty Foulds had kicked the ball in.

On the other hand, Mark Oxley was level with a free kick taken by Ben Whitfield, who missed the target with a wide header from a Robbie Gotts cross.

Barrow wasted a glorious chance to break the deadlock in the 71st minute when substitute Josh Kay Oxley forced a save onto the near post and fellow substitute Billy Waters cleared the crossbar from the right in front of an unprotected goal from the rebound.

The hosts achieved a breakthrough when Josh Falkingham’s free kick was quickly assisted by Jack Muldoon, and although he put his right hand on it, Bluebirds goalkeeper Paul Farman could only help Daley 15 yards into the roof of his own net.
