FA Cup: Sheffield United face Man City in the semi-finals while Brighton face Manchester United


Sheffield United will face Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley Stadium, while Brighton will play Manchester United.

Sheffield United came from behind to beat fellow champions Blackburn 3-2 on Sunday to take their place in the final four.

They will be without Manchester City duo Tommy Doyle and James McAtee on loan for their trip to Wembley, and both are ineligible to play against their parent club.

Before the draw was made, Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom said he hoped his side would avoid Man City so Doyle and McTee could feature in the Blades.

He said: “My wish is that we do not draw the city, that we do not complicate matters with loans, that is only what I wish, but we will wait and see. It must be discussed, it only complicates matters. If we avoid them, they are our players, and if we draw them, they are their players.”

Erling Haaland scored his sixth hat-trick of the season as Manchester City beat Burnley on Saturday to reach the semi-finals.

Manchester United came from behind to defeat Fulham and book their place in the quarter-finals,

Fulham took the lead and could have grabbed a second but the game changed within a few minutes as Willian was sent off for handling him on the line. Aleksandar Mitrović saw the referee red-footed in response, while manager Marco Silva was sent off for protesting.

Bruno Fernandes scored from the penalty spot, Marcel Sabitzer put them ahead, and Fernandes sealed the victory 3-1.

Brighton reached the semi-finals for the third time in their history with a convincing 5-0 win over League Two Grimsby Town on Sunday.

The final four games will take place over the weekend of April 22-23.
