Brentford 1-1 Leicester: Harvey Barnes ends the fantastic Foxes’ lead to earn an equalizer after Matthias Jensen’s opener
Leicester ended their five-match losing streak with a 1–1 draw at Brentford, with Harvey Barnes finishing in good stride for the equalizer.
The result did little for Leicester’s league position – they remained 16th, now one point above the relegation zone – but under pressure, his manager Brendan Rodgers will be encouraged by the way his side changed the game’s momentum after the break.
Brentford benefited from some missed finishes from the visitors in the first half, as Matthias Jensen (32) fired a goal wide after a corner kick caused havoc in the Leicester area.
The Foxes have lost on all eight occasions they have fallen behind in the Premier League at half-time this season, but they only needed seven second-half minutes to restore form in west London, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall assisting in midfield followed by a fine pass. A ball of fine finishing by James Madison and Barnes.
It would prove to be Leicester’s only shot on goal of the game, but after a frustrating few weeks that saw the team lose four successive Premier League appearances and exit the FA Cup at home to Blackburn, this will feel like a smashing sensation. as a positive step.
Brentford’s Chandon Baptiste was sent off in the dying minutes after picking up two quick yellow cards but the equalizer extended their unbeaten run at home to 10 Premier League matches. The team are level on points with seventh-placed Brighton in the race for a European qualification spot, although the Seagulls have two matches in hand.
