Bots are replacing security guards. Should we do them favors?

Some of these tasks include things like patrolling office buildings for broken fire alarms and suspicious activity, and checking in visitors. The main reason so many office buildings are starting to use these robots on humans is that it saves them a lot of money — nearly $79,000 a year, according to a report from Forrester Research. Although they can work longer hours and multitask, I don’t know that I would trust this machine with any kind of weapon in the event of a malfunction. What are the advantages of having AI security guards?
One big pro of AI security guards is that they may be able to detect greater danger than a security camera or even a human can. They cannot get tired or distracted, and it would be safer for them to confront intruders than to risk the life of a human security guard.
Another feature is the two-way communication system that some of these robots are designed with. Employees can report a problem directly to the bot, or if they’d prefer to interact with a human and can’t find one, they can request human presence to the bot, and it will alert the appropriate management.

More specifically, the Cobalt Robotics security guard is made of fabric and can be used for high-end furniture, so a hacker might not realize at first glance that it’s a security guard watching them. This may be a clever design that other companies May take note in order to keep the security guard more in disguise.

One drawback is that human security guards They may lose their jobs. However, it could be argued that humans can always be assigned to do other jobs, such as fixing AI technology if it breaks down or coming in to handle a problem if an employee doesn’t want to go through a bot.

The drawback that concerns me the most is that this technology is broken. We’ve seen AI technology malfunction all the time, whether it’s something like ChatGPT saying the wrong thing or saying McDonald’s self-service machine to be out of service. In addition, there has not been much detail about whether these bots can actually prevent crime. Security guards are meant to keep people in a given building safe, so I’m a little hesitant to put our full faith in AI bots until companies can make sure they’re the safest option and won’t get stuck in times of need.

Arm the robots with guns
San Francisco Police Department He proposed a policy that would allow robots to be weaponized and could even use lethal force if there was an extreme enough situation where the public or the police would be in imminent danger.
